Your first meeting with Dr. Doherty would be an intake session which is typically 45-50 minutes in duration, and ongoing one-on-one therapy sessions are 45 minutes long.

Dr. Doherty offers parent coaching sessions during which parents can discuss the struggles that they are facing with their child, or ask general questions that they may have related to parenting children of all ages. These sessions take place without the child present and give parents the opportunity to learn effective communication skills and how to connect with their child in more authentic and meaningful ways. These sessions can be helpful to parents who are experiencing significant levels of conflict with their child, parents who feel disconnected from their child, and parents trying to help their young child navigate developmental challenges such as temper tantrums, transitions to school, friendship building, etc. Additionally, this type of session can assist parents who are experiencing difficulties in their relationships with an adolescent or adult child. These difficulties might include issues related to gender or sexual identity, romantic relationships, or codependency.

Dr. Doherty offers weekly supervision and consultation sessions to psychologists, social workers, and mental health counselors who are currently licensed and working in their field. She offers the opportunity to discuss clinical issues and challenges, and to reflect on issues such as transference and countertransference that may be impacting the therapeutic alliance.

Individual therapy, parent coaching, and supervision sessions with Dr. Doherty may be paid for on a weekly or monthly basis. Dr. Doherty's fee is reimbursable by most insurance companies as an out-of-network benefit.

Dr. Doherty enjoys providing therapy services to undergraduate and graduate students who are pursuing careers in psychology, social work, or counseling, and a modified fee based on a sliding scale may be offered to such students.

Please note that Dr. Doherty does not offer mandated or court-ordered treatment, nor treatment for substance abuse or substance dependence.
